What is DTF Print - The new way to decorate textiles

DTF Print on a roll (gang sheet)

DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is one of the most advanced and versatile printing methods in modern textile production. In 2026, it has become a leading solution for custom apparel, combining digital precision with durability that rivals traditional screen printing.

Instead of printing directly onto the garment, the design is first printed onto a special PET film using water-based inks. A heat-activated adhesive powder is then applied and cured, creating a ready-to-use transfer. The design is finally heat-pressed onto the textile, and the film is peeled away, leaving only the print on the fabric.

DTF printing works on almost all fabric types – including cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, leather, and more – without the need for chemical pre-treatment. The result is a flexible, long-lasting print that can withstand 50–100 wash cycles without cracking or fading.

DTF is ideal for both single custom prints and large production runs, making it a cost-effective and future-proof printing solution.

Our film is Hot Peel, so it can be peeled, immediately after opening the heat press. You can order through our website high-quality DTF PET foil that can be removed when warm, and we use the same foil during production our DTF transfers. With both types of films, it is not necessary to remove excess material (so-called weeding), because only the printed part is glued to the fabric.

As a final step, a brief placement in a heat press is recommended to improve resistance to washing and rubbing. The DTF process works equally well with natural fibers such as cotton or silk, as well as with man-made materials such as polyester or blends. Thanks to the white ink layer, DTF prints look just as good on dark fabrics as they do on white or pastel textiles. The print is elastic and resistant to cracking.
